From February 1 to 28, the restaurants that are members of the Part Alta Restaurant Association (ARPA) will once again offer tasting menus at reduced prices paired with local wines at the 'La Part Alta Somriu a la Crisi' conference. ARPA therefore recovers this gastronomic action after last year it could not be carried out due to the restrictions due to the pandemic.
In this edition, that participating restaurants are nine in total: on the one hand, Àpats Quattros, Frida, Palau del Baró, Racó de l'Abat and Haberdashery 34, which offer tasting menus at a price of 24 EUR; and on the other, AQ, Arcs, Lola Bistro and Seasons, which offer a line price of EUR 35 following the same tasting menu format. The menus will be accompanied by a total of eight local wines, as well as a cava and the Inedit de Damm beer. The days maintain one of the most attractive claims, and that is that for each bottle of wine or beer that customers request during the meal, they will take an equal gift home. This year, the participating wineries are Cal Bessó, R. Raventós, Pinord, Clos Berenguer, Baronia del Montsant, Cairats and Covides..
During the presentation of the conference held this Tuesday, January 25, Pau Ricoma, mayor and president of the Municipal Tourist Board of Tarragona (PMTT), which supports the initiative, has celebrated "the recovery of an essential and fully consolidated event in our gastronomic calendar at a time when the sector is facing the beginning of the recovery ”.
Ricoma highlighted the "100% Mediterranean and Tarragona" nature of the conference, "where quality, signature cuisine, market cuisine and local produce prevail, as is characteristic of our restaurants" and added that, for these reasons, "they position us as a gastronomic destination in addition to helping to deseasonalize demand, since they offer a first-class incentive to visit the city in a month that is not high season." "The Part Alta Somriu a la Crisi fits into the strategy for Tarragona to become a cultural and gastronomic destination where you can make a weekend getaway at any time of the year" concluded the mayor of Tarragona.
The participating restaurants have been represented in the presentation by Carlos Llobet (Arches) and Xavier Fernandez (Seasons). Llobet has highlighted that with the conference "the restaurants, the citizens and also the specific area where they are held win, that he sees how an average of 6.000 people pass through the neighborhood per edition." Llobet added that the conference maintains "the philosophy of offering the same quality by lowering the price, betting on Tarragona and the wineries and bringing the culture of wine closer to home, thanks to the promotional action that allows you to take it home as a gift bottle that is ordered in the restaurant”. For his part, Fernández wanted to emphasize that the conferences come "at a very necessary time" and highlighted "the efforts of restaurateurs to make restaurants safe spaces where everyone can enjoy themselves."
Finally, the participating wineries, represented by Cairats and Cal Bessó, have thanked the organizers for holding the conference, which they have defined, in the words of Ramon Massip (Cairats), as "a very powerful instrument to revitalize the sector and help build and expand the culture of wine".
